Earlier, there were praises and concerns by some Kenyan creatives following the trip.

Raps Wayne wrote: “Why don’t you bring with you industry players Kenya Film Commission who understand needs of the industry and can help negotiate a meaningful package for all industry players rather than bringing individuals with you who can’t speak for others but for themselves.”

Ateri Terry, a well known Kenyan creative industry player remained optimistic.
“As a creative I acknowledge and appreciate these efforts. The fruits may be enjoyed much later but the mere fact that someone is not only concerned but actually doing something about it is a great start.”

On their part, Jk Shammah was all hammer and tongs. “No contempt intended but this trip looks like a comedy tour. I don’t think a South African president or Egypt and Nigeria presidents would travel all the way to America to meet comedians….

Ken Waudo, one of the most experienced producer and arts marketer singled out inclusion of comedian Butita and government’s involvement in creative industry as key.

“Proud of you Eddie Butita for being there by presidents side to help start a strong outlook on how serious creative economy in Kenya can get if, and when endorsed by the ruling class for the first time since we heard the word ‘independence’, not only will be beneficial to practitioners, but government cronies, their general and perceived attitude towards the creative economy this side of the world! Also the conversation are taking a positive trajectory and we pray this continues to heights …. now when you come back home; COME BACK WITH GOODIES TOO!!!”
